How to insert Website Tracker Code in to my web page?
Inserting your lines of code is fairly simple. Every internet
text document is made up of html (Hyper Text Markup Language). You can edit it by using
any text editor or html editor.
Notepad (or other text editor):
- Open notepad
- Select File > Open.
- Select File of Type: All Files
- Open your web page.
- Paste lines of code just above the </Body> tag. It is usually found at
the second last line of the HTML source of the page.
- Make sure that the lines of code stay as they are. If they are
broken, the script may prompt a JavaScript Error, when you open the page in a browser.
- Save the document as htm/html file (Not txt
file).
How to insert Website Tracker Code in a Framed Page?
A framed page is basically a main page (say main.htm)
made up of two or more different pages (e. g. frame1.htm and frame2.htm).
Though you can add the code in the html of any of these frame1.htm or frame2.htm
page, but the "Referrer Report" will not be effective, as the previous page will
always be main.htm. So it is better to add the code in the html of main.htm,
just above the </body>
tag, found at the second last
line of the page. For example please visit worldherb.net.

FAQ
What is the difference between a Counter and a Tracker?
- While a counter on your page displays how many
times your page has been accessed, WebsiteTracker
tells you a lot more about them, including their country, time, O/s, browser, last page
visited, search engine they are coming from, keywords they typed in search engine etc.
This information is very useful for visitor analysis.
How correct are my status?
- Nearly 100%. Some of the older browsers pass
incorrect or insufficient information to the server. This may cause results to be
influenced a bit. For example Netscape 3 does not report the Screen Resolution of the
client machine.
- Considering so many things, it becomes
impossible to get a 100% accurate Unique Hit Report. Using cookie could have been a good
idea, but so many people NEVER accept cookies. We have developed an algorithm which gives
94% to 99.99% accurate results without storing a cookie on the client machine.
- Some users may have turned off their
JavaScript or may be using browsers that do not support JavaScript (e.g. Lynx), in these
cases some of the details (like referrers) may not be reported.
- No system can give you 100% accurate results
except the server logs, but you are not likely to have access to them unless you own the
server. Server logs have their limitations too.
What is the difference between Total Hits and Unique Hits?
- Total Hits tell you how many times the page
has been accessed. A single visitor can return to your home page many times. While Unique
Hits tell you how many unique visitors came to your page.
- In nutshell, if a particular visitor returns
to your page with in half an hour of the same session, he is NOT a unique hit. However the
Total Hits go up by 1.
Why the country of the visitor is not logged sometimes?
- That depends on the type of network the client
has logged on. We resolve the name of the country by the two character country domain like
.UK for United Kingdom, .JP for Japan and so on. Many times visitors just leave an IP
address and not a Host Name, in those cases the country of the visitor is not reported.
- Some ISP's register their domain in one
country and operate in another country, this might lead to incorrect country report.
Why is there a minute difference between my page counter and the total hits on the Website Tracker?
- If you run a page counter on YOUR server then
it might show a bit higher count. Website Tracker runs on our cgi-bin and it can not log a
hit till a small image (invisible on your page) is called from our server. Some of the
older browsers (like Lynx) ignore the <image> tag. This type of hit will not
be logged by Website Tracker or any system not running on your server.
After inserting the lines of code in my web page, I am getting a JavaScript Error when I open it in a browser!
- That is because you have not inserted
the lines of code into your page properly. Please follow the guide lines given above.
